Compensation For Dancers

The issue with Elephant man and dancer Ice regarding the ‘Gully Creepa’ dance should be able to be resolved amicable. According to the Star August 26,2008 regarding the issue of compensation Elephant man said that the dancers should go get their own because as an artist he gets his own.

I believe this is an unfair situation because if he created the dance and the artist made the song after the dance then he can give him a little something. He should also take him along with him to promote the song and dance. I can imagine how much money Elephant man is making so why not give the man his dues. I am not saying that you are contracted to pay him but I know that deep down you know it is the right thing to do. I have seen you perform many times at Universal studio, Miami and New York. It is a joy to see you perform and you seem to be a good person. You know that if you give him something that wont make a big difference in your life (monetary) but it may make a difference in his. Please rethink your decision and do the right thing.

Will Obama be a good choice for Jamaica?

Obama Barrack Obama is a serious contender to win the US presidential election. If this occurs it will be the first African American to ever hold this office. The question is, should Obama wins will he be of help to Jamaica? One would argue that due to the fact that George Bush, during the last eight years of his presidency totally ignores Jamaica, Obama could not be worst. Jamaica is not necessarily looking for handouts from the US, but looking forward for a productive and robust economy from Obama. If the US economy is bubbling Jamaica and other Caribbean Islands stand to benefit from trade, aid and tourism. We wish Obama well and based upon his promises we believe if he wins, the world will be in a much better shape.

JOHN McCAIN PICKS SARAH PALIN AS RUNNING MATE

Palin Arizona Senator picks little known Alaska governor Sarah Palin as running mate. This is seen as a desperate move by McCain to counteract Obama soaring popularity and rejuvenating bounce after the convention. It is said that McCain only met her twice. For a man who made a political career out of criticizing Obama about his lack of experience it is astonishing that McCain would choose someone who the media is still researching to find out who she is. This only shows that some people hardly say what they mean in politics. Mitt Romney, Joe Lieberman and Charlie Christ must be fuming, silently of course. Let see if McCain ruse works!

HURRICANE GUSTAV

I know that Jamaicans are great people and that they are advanced in technology, but there are some situations that we have no control over. We have no control over situation such as down electricity, no water, and no land or cell phone during or after a natural disaster. It is always important to be prepared based on speculation because we cannot know for sure what is going to happen.

During and after hurricane Charley hit Florida in 2004, we too were without cell and land phone, water, cable and electricity for more than 4 days. Remember we are talking about a developed America when compared to undeveloped third world Jamaica.

When it comes to natural disaster we have a level playing field because man have no control. Let us focus on the lives lost or saved and learn from it. This is what is important. I know that it is tough when you don’t have access to certain things , such as adequate water, food and shelter know that when we lost material things that we worked so hard for is not easy to swallow. But please remember that when you have life you should have hope that you will regain what you have lost.

Jamaica and Jamaicans are blessed and we always bounce back. Let us focus on the task that we have ahead. Let us stay safe and secure while Gustav goes by.

WERE JAMAICAN ATHLETES OVER TESTED FOR DRUGS?

Words got out that Jamaican star athletes were tested heavily for drugs prior to and after their performances. We  understand that every athlete regardless of where you are from should be expected to be tested, but if it is true that some Jamaican athletes were tested up to five times, why? If this is so, wouldn’t this borders on some type of discrimination? Anyone has any comment on this?

Mission Accomplished Senator Obama

Congratulations to Senator Obama and his team on a job well done. His acceptance speech for presidency to an audience of 85,000 plus shows what can be done if as a leader you put confidence in people. Senator Obama echo to the Nation that the need for change is now, and that it is the people of the United State of America who can make that change. But as a good leader, Senator Obama shows good judgment by selecting and putting together teams that are capable to help fulfill his dream and the dream of a nation. This is a good show for America and Americans, a moment to be proud and hopeful as a nation as we look forward to a historical November election.
