Vendors in Jamaica are issued ceased and desist orders on all illegal sale of clothes, memorabilia, images or anything bearing the likeness of Usain Bolt. Usain Bolt management does not want anyone to unofficially profit from the athletes effort without him being duly compensated. As expected the vendors are fuming, claiming that they do not see anything wrong with it. What’s your take on this?

If this bill passes then it will encourage police to wrongfully arrest innocent Jamaicans. If the human rights and lawyers that are making this claim step back and listen to what they are saying then they will be surprised at themselves.

This bring to mind the Politicians who make all this promises before they are elected but don’t fulfill the promises once they are elected. In the case of the Politicians because of some of then did wrong what we should do is stay home and not vote for any one. We really don’t do that because what would happen to the country is far greater than having a government who need to iron out some issues. The same thing goes for the bill, what is a country without rules, laws and penalty. (The ones we have aren’t working and no-one have the guts to make any changes)

A 5-year-old child knows right from wrong but if the child does wrong and the parent ignores that child then the child will continue to do wrong, and as the child grows so does the wrong. This is why we cannot continue to ignore what is happening in the country while it gets worse. This is why we need to do something because what we are doing now is not working and only an idiot will continue doing the same thing and expect a different outcome.

If rules are put in place that a person can be jailed for up to 60 days pending investigation then so be it. It there is concerns that police will abuse their power and wrongfully arrest someone due to spite or revenge then that police should be investigated, jailed and fired that can be a part of the bill. The investigation should be by an independent entity not the police to rule bias and corruption. The laws of the land are for everyone rich or poor, Politian or non-politicians, black or white no exclusion.

We have to do something this problem has been festering for too long. We cannot continue to be sitting ducks while the violence continue to raise havoc on our country while the majority looks on and the lawmakers and government looks on. We have to do something now!

In what continues to be a severe down-slide in the US stock market the numbers reach -777 yesterday. This occurred after the republican failed to garner the necessary votes to approve the US$700B bailout or rescue, whatever it is. Everyone is hoping that this matters is settled soon because this could have a tremendous impact on the world economy if it continues to linger. Countries like Jamaica would see a major reduction in tourism and remittances to the Island.

One of the reasons why crime has not been reduced in Jamaica is because of the political approach to crime. Have you ever wondered why the Bruce Golding government has not done a single thing better to reduce crime than the previous government. It is because in order to effectively deal with crime they will have to face the Dons that help put them and keep them in power. All these debates and ‘Two Mouth’ talking about solving crime is just efforts to fool the public. Every policeman in Jamaica knows who the criminals are, but mek dem touch dem. Once you call a politician name and everybody in the world knows who he or she is, like Portia and Bruce, they cannot solve crime because they run constituencies and garrisons which continue to exist as part of the criminal strongholds.

On Many occasions I heard television anchors and interviewers asking their analyst and reporters why Obama is not beating John McCain convincingly in the polls, and they always dodge the question. The truth is that no one wants to say the real truth that if Obama was a white man McCain would be history. With America facing the worst economic crisis in recent memory and John McCain philosophy, like George Bush, contributed to this problem, he should not have any chance of winning. However, John McCain has one thing working for him, he is white. This is the silent reality that no one wants to talk about.

On an optimistic note it is very enlightening to see that a vast number of White Americans routing for Obama. This is historical. No black man has ever garnered the support that Obama is getting from the white population. A number of white people is tired of the racism which has been holding back the country for several years, they want a change and the world is watching. If America chooses McCain only because he is white, the world will not forgive America. McCain economic policy of tax cut for the rich Will not only further sink the country but he will make George Bush looks like he has the Nobel Prize in economics.

It is all good that the Prime Minister is calling on the UN involvement for the middle and poor class country but while we are waiting for the UN to respond we have to start getting our ducks in a row. The UN is getting a lot of calls not only from the middle and poor country but also from the rich countries.

We cannot sit in Jamaica and wait for a reply because it may be too late. We gonna have to start planting something that we can eat calhaloo, corn, yam, banana etc. We cannot complain that the hurricane will destroy the crop we just have to be thankful for what we reap and move on. Some people are going to say that they have no place to plant nothing ,you better get pots and pan to plant because you will be grateful you did. We cannot sit on our hands and wait for the government to do everything we have to do something for ourselves. God help those who help themselves. No country is going to give another country the food that their people need therefore we have to help our selves.

I read with concern regarding vending at Halfway tree and St. James and I refused to belief that I am not dreaming. I cannot see why someone who is trying to make a honest living should be harassed. Is this article making reference to Jamaica or another country. If they are referring to Jamaica then the mayor should be focusing on reducing the murder and getting guns off the streets. I have never heard of anyone who are trying to make an honest living by vendoring killing anyone so why should they be harassed when we have so much more to be focusing on. I do believe that the vendors are being use as scape goat and distraction. I believe that most higglers are honest ,descent people who are trying to make a living. The higglers should not be blocking the streets , we should have police patrolling to keep things in order. If we have police patrolling then they will not only keep the order but they will know the good and the bad, they will know the higglers, trouble makers, thieves and extortionist. The focus should not be on the higglers but on those who are trying to destroy our country.

Obama and McCain just finished their first presidential debate. A poll taken up after the debate shows that an overwhelming number of Americans believe that Obama wins the debate (51-38). During the debate McCain comes off as being arrogant and in some cases were seen talking down to Obama. This turns off a lot of people. Although the debate was on Foreign Policy which was supposed to be McCain strength, Obama went toe to toe with him and you could see that McCain appeared sarcastic and angry. McCain did not look Obama in the face even once during the debate. Even after they met to shake hands McCain refused to look at Obama straight. I guess McCain is the ‘Straight Talk Express not the ’straight look express.’

If Obama continues to look presidential, calm collective, and collect he will win the debates. We already know that he has a very good understanding of where he needs to lead the country and the American people know it. It is just a matter of whether they need him to lead it or not.
