BET Award Missing Reggae Category

I watched the BET award last night and except for the occasional tribute to Michael Jackson, and the appearance of the iconic group the O’Jays, there was nothing new. We had Lil”weird’ Wayne performing his usual antics and Jay Z and Beyonce trying to be supernatural as usual, but the show was too lengthy and sometimes boring. We wonder how a Black Entertainment Television award show could go on for 3 hours with not a single reggae artist performing.

We were delighted by Janet Jackson’s brief appearance. We loved it even better knowing that her mourning was genuine. Joe Jackson (Michael’s father) sat in the audience trying to appear sad and stricken but the world know better. He can’t wait to get his hands on Michael’s legacy. After 44 years he still can’t get enough. Not to say some of the ‘Jacko’ family is not genuinely distraughted. I am sure that they are. However, we are asking everyone involved to hold back the crocodile tears for a while. Let the serious mourners mourn.

I honestly believed that as a Father he is truly remorseful about his son’s passing. MJ hated his father because he claims his father abused him as a child by spanking him. But as a black child growing up, who didn’t get a little spanking? There is nothing wrong with a little remedial punishment. It helps to groom us as a person. MJ lucky he got spanking, I got some “rhatid lick/murderation” and I don’t have the least bit of hate in my heart for my parents because I know they did it for my own good.
