Finally, Jamaica will be able to fully compete with other top tourist destinations, like the Bahamas, now that Casino Gaming bill is now signed into law. Jamaica has been trying to introduce Casino Gambling , legally, for a long time but tough resistance from the church and other individuals and istitutions has resisted all efforts. Arthur Williams, from the Ministry of Finance, stated that the major challenge is to ensure that the casinos are run according to regulations.

MORE BAD NEWS ON AIR JAMAICA. With just 2 days to go before the handing over of Air Jamaica to Caribbean Airlines the Air Jamaica employees are on strike. Reports are that over 1600 workers are to be made redundant on sale day Friday April 30. National Workers Union VP Granville Valentine announces that all categories of workers will be on strike, from ramp attendants to pilots. The government is supposed to give details on the sale of Air J today.

Bye, bye love Bird
The Jamaica Cabinet has given approval for the divestment of Air Jamaica to Caribbean Airlines effective Friday (April 30). Air Jamaica profitable routes will be sold out to Trinidad owned Caribbean Airlines. Many Jamaicans are still unhappy with the sale and still believe that the government has not done enough to try to keep the airline. We are hoping that Air Jamaica will still fly with all the amenities offered by the previous ‘Love Bird.’

The Jamaica Government through its spokesman General Secretary Karl Samuda, admits that they know more than what they led the public to believe over the last months since the Dudus extradition matter came about.
