The few upper class, rich Jamaican who have already made their millions and are now suppressing others from having a piece of the Jamaican pudding has come up with means and ways of trying to suppress and extinct the Jamaican culture that Jamaican is known for throughout the world. They are making all these rules and restriction to make Jamaica like the others countries that don’t need entertainment as a means of economic resource. What they don’t realize is that because Jamaica is unique in its culture and that is what makes Jamaica more popular than any other Island. If they try to take away the freedom that exist in Jamaica we are asking for more economic trouble because we will attract fewer tourists.
I have seen here in Florida not a known entertainment areas where hotels and I mean nice hotels are using Jamaica sound system to play at the hotels. But it is ironic that in Jamaica they are trying to discourage Reggae music in Jamaica. I don’t know where Jamaica is going with this but I and any man or woman on the Streets in Jamaica can tell them that country will suffer economically if they decide to go that route.
Mark you I am not saying that there should be lawlessness in the country because I do have a problem with the increase violence and murder but I have not heard of reggae music killing or robbing anyone.
The system is trying to destroy the essence of what Jamaica is and known for. When you are in Jamaica you experience freedom, and calm which make one feel stress free. This is why many Jamaicans leave America or Europe to go back to but to tell us that that freedom, calm and tranquility will be taken away is very disheartening. When I am in Jamaica I know I am going to hear Reggae music and if I want to go to a club or dance I should be allowed to do so because that what most people visit Jamaica for. What I want to know is when Jamaicans are going to appreciate what we have and profit from what God has blessed us with instead of trying to be like everyone else.

This brought me to the parable of the talents that Jesus talked about. We in Jamaica have our gifts and it is up to the government to help the people to enhance the talent and multiply on what we have. Instead of planning on barrowing money from IMF which will only put more burden on the country? We are known around the world for our music and the controversial ganja. We are stricken for cash even though we have what can make us millions so why not use it. Other countries are living off the resources that they have such as oil and rice s o why not Jamaica. It is said that Jamaica has one of the finest weed in the world, so why not enjoy the benefit.
