Banning of Music

Kartel has complaint in regards to the banning of music that has sexual connotation, violence and gun war. Kartyl ,I am sorry but most of your music are very deep but vulgar. I love the mamma song that is a very good song and it shows

that you can write good song that are not vulgar and explicit.

You do have a point regarding the lack of reggae music on Jamaica radio station. It is very depressing when I turn on the radio and most of what I am hearing is hip hop or R&B. Many people like myself goes to places like Kens Wildflower on a Sunday to hear some good music. I refused to go to places where people are acting crazy people lying on the ground in their good clothes and calling for mattress because it is daggering time. I think is not only disgusting but disrespecting. What can I say the women are the one who are lowering their standard and they are the looser in the long run. I don’t see Kartyl or any of the other artist marrying any of the girls who are behaving in such disrespecting way for all to see.

If any music is explicit then it should be banned no matter the origin or the singer. We need some law in Jamaica. For too long too much lawlessness has been going on in music, violence, extortion and politics. Jamaica deserve better, and I know as a people we can do better. Abiding by the law is not communist every county have law. If we did not have laws then what would happen to the world. We do know that not everyone that has power has good judgment but that is where others come in. We are not saying that you Kartyl is a bad person, but you need to recognize the power that you have and use it wisely. Whether or not you want to accept it you are a role model to many young adult. Young adult like my son who is a smart boy studying engineering but he like your music. You do have an effect on many people. My son don’t like your music because of the slackness and the war mongering but because he recognize that you are a very intelligent person from the way you put words together.

Kartyl you can do so much right now if you acknowledge that ‘Rompin Shop’ choice of words is not eligible for air play. You are intelligent enough you know right from wrong. Be a big man and accept what you know is right. Fight for more Jamaica music to get air play on the radio and cultural events on the television. Trust me a lot more people will then stand behind you for standing up for the right thing.
