17 year old Paula-Kay Cousins of Glenmuir High School receives 11 distinctions in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC). The subject areas are English language, English literature, mathematics, Caribbean history, economics, chemistry, Spanish, principles of business, religious education, principles of accounts, and information technology.

Damien Chang ’12 of Kingston, Jamaica, has accomplished something that fewer than 400 of the 1.5 million students who took the SAT last year managed to do: he earned a perfect 2400. Prominent educator and Vice Chancellor of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Professor Rex Nettleford is dead. Professor Nettleford graduated from UWI and also is a Rhode Scholar from London Oxford University. Jamaica has now lost one of its most outstanding citizens of the 21st century. He would have been 77 years of age tomorrow

There is an influx of universities in Jamaica. Even though it is good that many students who want to go further in regards to their education aspirations now have the chance to do so.
