However, many believe that Red Stripe parent company Desnoes & Geddes decision to pull sponsorship from top reggae concerts played a big role in the decline of sales. The company last year decided not to support reggae artists who used offensive languages against Gays and other groups. Sale of Red Stripe on the international market is said to be still holding its own.

I was disappoint during my last visit as I tried to find some Jamaican candy I have been to many wholesales and shops and I haven’t come across any. I wanted to get some ginger ale, Icy mint and epically some busta (stag aback) because I wanted to give some to a Trinidadian co worker who had brought a similar candy from Trinidad and shared with us.

I was not pleased especially when I stopped at a super market at a plaza by Angels and had the feeling for grater cake. I could not believe when I didn’t come across any, but I could purchase any amount of foreign candy and chocolate my heart desire. Such a pity many of the children growing up will not know or experience eating candies made in Jamaica.

The sad thing about the way we do thing in Jamaica is that we quickly embrace things from other countries and make them accessible for all to consume or use and there is nothing wrong with that. But in the same breath we need to promote what we make and grow.

This is the Good thing that the present Prime Minister Mr. Bruce Golding is now doing as the slogan goes “eat what you grow and grow what you eat,” but can you imagine what a country Jamaica be if we had jumped on the band wagon when Mr. Michael Manley had tried to promote that concept of farming and agriculture? Think about it.

We as a country need to access and continuing building on what the previous government had started and not tear down only to revisit the idea abundant at a later date and realized that indeed it was a good idea. We as a country has grown we are almost 50 year old we need to start acting responsible and stop the game playing and do the right things. We need to produce and set up systems to monitor and control our products. We also need to be proud of what we produce and grow and make them accessible to Jamaicans as well as touris

The chemical is widely known to be used by undertakers for embalming and preserving the bodies of dead people. The chemical is said to be very dangerous if used by untrained persons and is definitely not suitable for human consumption. The Jamaica Ministry of Health is investigating the matter.

When I heard of this drama I could not believe it at first. I thought that my husband was joking around. I had to see it for myself in black and white and even then I just cannot see the rationale behind this nonsense. Why do we need to import patties? I want to know why. You want to tell me that we don’t have enough patties in Jamaica. Come on Jamaicans this is going too far. There can be no excuse or rational for this decision making. Every country is trying desperately to hold on to every dollar they have. Many are trying to find job or create new job to employed people. And to tell me that Jamaica is planning on importing patties to Jamaica is a shame and a disgrace. This is a slap in the face of many Jamaican who would go to Jamaica with the thought of enjoying a good Jamaican patty.

I remember coming thought custom at Fort Lauderdale and the custom officer asked me what I have in my suit case and when I told him he turn to me and asked if I did not bring up any patty. My reply was no because there is patty here in America, he turns to me and say ‘but they just don’t taste the same as those from Jamaica.’ My reply was that’s right. I felt bad because here I am trying to give a positive reason as to why I did not bring any patty from Jamaica and here a non Jamaican white man who took me back to reality. Jamaican patties taste good and there is none like it so why would we want to import them from another country. We need the money for medicine that we don’t have in Jamaica not patty when we have so many student who did home economics in high school and graduate and cannot get a job why not put them to make patties.

I have come to one conclusion and that is someone is trying to destroy Jamaica by any means necessary and it is high time for Jamaicans to wake up and smell the coffee.
