Vybz Kartel Out of Jail

Heavyweight DJ Vybz Kartel has just been released from jail after being locked up under the State of Emergency for over two weeks. Kartel was held among others for reason unknown. The Jamaican police is still tight lipped as to why he was being held. There are rumors and speculations that he is the leader of a Portmore gang but this has not being confirmed. Kartel will be a big ticket performer on the upcoming Reggae Sumfest .

Oh Man! Sean Kingston Accused of Sexual Assault

A woman accused rapper/entertainer Sean Kinsgston of sexual assault but police believe that her story is not credible. The alleged incident occurred Sunday night, at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Seattle.  Sources tell us two women showed up for a party in one of the hotel rooms.  Kingston was present.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ …  the women were both intoxicated when they arrived, with bottles of vodka and beer in hand.  We’re told one of the women claims Kingston had sex with her, and, as one source says, “She was very aggressive.”  Kingston then left the party and went to another room on the same floor. Drake Gives Movado $2m For Learning Center

Singjay Mavado and international superstar Drake are in the midst of building a learning center in Cassava Piece.

When THE WEEKEND STAR spoke with Mavado’s manager Julian Jones-Griffith he explained that two weeks ago Drake donated US$25,000 (JA$2.15 million) towards the building of the library. Vybz Kartel Appeals For Help With Jamaica Police

Super Star Reggae DJ Vybz Kartel supposedly sent out text messages to his fans appealing for help in his ordeal with the Jamaica police. Since yesterday police asked Vybz Kartel whose real name is Adija Palmer to turn himself  in for questioning. The police are tightlipped about what they want Kartel for but up until today there is no word from the mainstream media whether Kartel surrenders.

Jamaica Entertainer Vybz Kartel Wanted By the Police

Jamaica Star Entertainer Vybz Kartel is wanted ,among others, by the police for questioning . It is still unclear why the police want  Kartel but we are following the story closely. Several parishes in Jamaica are now under state of emergency so there will be a lot more detention and arrest than would have normally taken place.

 Top dancehall DJ Rodney ‘Bounty Killa’ Pryce is to appear in court today to face assault charges and may move to have the charges dismissed. Bounty Killa was arrested months ago for allegedly beating up his girlfriend because she threatened to leave him.

Is Jamaican Music Contributing to Violence?

According to an article written in the LA Times Jamaican Dj music such as ‘Ova di wall, Put yuh AK ova di wall…’maybe contributing to crime and violence in Jamaica. It has been widely believed for a long time that such lyrics influence especially the young and vulnerable in the Jamaican society. Damian Marley at it Again!

Damian Marley has teamed up with rapper Nas to create the album ‘Distant Realtive’ a tribute to all the Africans who arrived from Africa as one people but were dropped off at different ports, e.g. Jamaica, America, Barbados, etc. as Nas described it on the Monique Show.
