Buju Banton Pleads Not Guilty!

Reggae superstar Buju Banton pleaded not guilty to cocaine charges in a Tampa court yesterday. He did not seek bail either because he did not want to be turned over to US  immigration. Buju is not a US citizen but is here in on an entertainment visa so the immigration authorities could still take him in custody due to the nature of his charges. Banton’s lawyer said that he is innocent and the government case ‘Got no soul.’

Buju Banton Will Appear in Tampa Court Today

Jamaican international entertainer Buju “Mark Myrie’ Banton will appear in a Tampa court today for Arraignment on federal cocaine charges. As we already know Buju vehemently denies all charges against him and his fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting to see how this will pan out. buju top flight attorney David Oscar Markus says that Buju is innocent and the government case got no soul. Buju Banton Did Not Apply For Bail

In a strategic move reggae artist Buju ‘Mark Myrie’ Banton attorney did not apply for bail yesterday in Miami as expected. According to attorney Herbert Walker III, the case will most likely be tried in Tampa and that is where he should apply for Bail for the artist as you only have one shot at a a bail hearing. Buju is charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine. Buju categorically denied all charges against him.

Reggae superstar Buju “Mark Myrie’ Banton is to go before a Florida court today to answer charges in conspiracy to deal cocaine among other charges. The artist is expected to deny all charges against him and his attorney will be requesting bail. Many of the artist fans believe that he has been set up because of his recordings targeting the Gay and Lesbian community. Whatever the case maybe we are hoping that Buju receives very good legal representation so that he can clear his name if he is innocent.

Buju Banton Held for Cocaine Trafficking?

buju bantonWords are that Mega Reggae entertainer Buju Banton real name Mark Anthony Myrie was arrested in Miami last Thursday for cocaine trafficking. Rumors are that he was charged for intent to distribute cocaine. As with all high  profile cases like this information is sketchy and hard to come by. One thing seems certain is that something big hit Buju over the weekend. We will keep you updated.

Vybz Kartel vs Mavado, Gaza vs Gully Over?

There has been a lot of focus within the past on the ongoing gully/gaza fued involving Jamaica’s premier artists Vybz Kartel and Mavado. The Jamaican Government has made swift and harsh actions to end the continuous divide, including prohibiting both artist from performances around the country. Amid boycotts from the police both artists agreed on a march for peace this upcoming Wednesday in Half Way Tree. Surprisingly, the message of peace came through early. The two shared the stage last night at Jamboree 2009 in Tivoli Gardens. Kartel was called on stage and the two began performing together, with Mavado even claiming that he sees Kartel as a brother.

Squingy From Bass Odyssey Passed Away

We heard the sad news that Kevin ‘Squingy’ Bennett, world class Bass Odyssey selector, passed away in the Tampa General Hospital recently. Squingy has been battling a terminal illness for a while but he now succumbs to it. Squingy is well known in the music circle for his genius as a selector and entertainer. We send our condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace Squingy.
