Why not talk about the achievement that Barrack Obama has made such as put a hold on the economic crisis that was speeding rapidly downhill.

Why not talk about the efforts that he is making in regards to health care coverage for all Americans.

Why not talk about the calmness that is felt throughout the world

Why not talk about the fact that he won the Nobel peace prize

And last but not least why not talk about equal pay for women as that of men or the fact that he has in place more women in key position than that of the last two Presidents yet no one accused them of not taking females with them to engage in extra curricula activities.

Is this new proposal /accusation a test on the President so see how resistant he can be or to see if he would be weak enough to fall for traps? I have confident that he is a strong man of principle who can pass that test if he decided to take the challenge.

Finally, the Jamaica Commsiioner of Police has come out openly and speaks his mind about the crime situation in Jamaica. Have you ever wondered with all the hiring of the best brains and the importation of some of the finest lawmen from other countries why Jamaica crime situation continues to get worse? The reason as the commissioner puts it is because of the involvement of politics in the criminal enterprise.

It is interesting to note that the present government blasted the former government on its failure to control crime in the island. Now that they are in they treat crime as if it is a natural way of life so live with it. We hardly hear the PM comes out and address the abnormally high murder rate. He only responds to it if he is bothered by a nuisance reporter. It couldn’t be that so many bright politicians don’t have a clue what is going on. The real truth is that they all benefit from it. Both the PNP and the JLP utilize the existence of gang control garrisons to ensure their electability. Every Don is associated with one of the major political party.

Of the more than one hundred Jamaicans murdered each month most of them are from the under-privilege class. In the few instances where a few prominent persons are murdered the killers are usually caught within days or weeks. Among the poor and the wretched more than 50% of the killers got away scotch free. Government goes about its business as if the Jamaica murder rate is acceptable in civilized society. There is no outrage, no major crime strategy except the old tried and failed.

I guess we will have to live with the fact that existing in our paradise will remain a game of Russian Roulette. Come to Jamaica and have fun but if you get killed don’t complain, many others suffer the same fate.

I cannot see how the Prime Ministers of Jamaica present and pass allow free reign of the Dons throughout the country. It is about time for the country elected officials to stop the backward practice. If the Dons or community leaders want to lead then they should go forth and do it the correct way. It is up to the people to decide if they want to elect them as their leaders.

One don’t have to hold a doctorate degree or be a lawyer in order to be a leader but at the same time one have to be of good character and have good leadership qualities to be good productive leaders. Although many of these good leadership qualities are not exhibit by most of the current politicians. Some may think that using bruit force and intimidation qualifies one as a leader but that is not necessarily so. One may lead with those qualities but I can guarantee it will be for a short time only.

There are some good leaders out there who have good qualities and good ideas that are waiting for the opportunity to show case their talent but it is so difficult for them to break the tight link chain. In many cases the political arena in Jamaica is only limited to a chosen few and it is pass down from generation to generation not giving a crack for new blood to enter the status as a Politian.

On the other hand the gates are open wide for the young guys to enter but not with the true title as a Politian. Some of whom are smarter than the political figure that they are working for. The young men Mainly dark skin will then do just about anything for their boss hoping that someday they will get the opportunity to be elevated to the a higher level but they will never be elevated to Politian class or level. They can be elevated though to the highest level as a DON in the area leader’s class.

And so the wheel turn and the cycle continues, Don comes and Don goes. Once your task is over and you are no longer need by that Politian.

Bernard beat JLP candidate Keith Barnes. Normally these little by-elections would go unnoticed but recently there have been battles over MP seats due to Dual Citizenship issues. Both the Prime Minister Bruce Golding and Simpson have been hot on the campaign trails supporting their candidates. The victory is even sweeter for Portia Simpson after some embarrassing loss.

The few upper class, rich Jamaican who have already made their millions and are now suppressing others from having a piece of the Jamaican pudding has come up with means and ways of trying to suppress and extinct the Jamaican culture that Jamaican is known for throughout the world. They are making all these rules and restriction to make Jamaica like the others countries that don’t need entertainment as a means of economic resource. What they don’t realize is that because Jamaica is unique in its culture and that is what makes Jamaica more popular than any other Island. If they try to take away the freedom that exist in Jamaica we are asking for more economic trouble because we will attract fewer tourists.

I have seen here in Florida not a known entertainment areas where hotels and I mean nice hotels are using Jamaica sound system to play at the hotels. But it is ironic that in Jamaica they are trying to discourage Reggae music in Jamaica. I don’t know where Jamaica is going with this but I and any man or woman on the Streets in Jamaica can tell them that country will suffer economically if they decide to go that route.

Mark you I am not saying that there should be lawlessness in the country because I do have a problem with the increase violence and murder but I have not heard of reggae music killing or robbing anyone.

The system is trying to destroy the essence of what Jamaica is and known for. When you are in Jamaica you experience freedom, and calm which make one feel stress free. This is why many Jamaicans leave America or Europe to go back to but to tell us that that freedom, calm and tranquility will be taken away is very disheartening. When I am in Jamaica I know I am going to hear Reggae music and if I want to go to a club or dance I should be allowed to do so because that what most people visit Jamaica for. What I want to know is when Jamaicans are going to appreciate what we have and profit from what God has blessed us with instead of trying to be like everyone else.

This brought me to the parable of the talents that Jesus talked about. We in Jamaica have our gifts and it is up to the government to help the people to enhance the talent and multiply on what we have. Instead of planning on barrowing money from IMF which will only put more burden on the country? We are known around the world for our music and the controversial ganja. We are stricken for cash even though we have what can make us millions so why not use it. Other countries are living off the resources that they have such as oil and rice s o why not Jamaica. It is said that Jamaica has one of the finest weed in the world, so why not enjoy the benefit.

President Obama Middle East Speech

Most people around the world were impressed with not only the courage but with the actual speech that the President of America stood up for. As usual many cannot deny that the president ideas and intent that he spoke of at Cairo University was very hopeful.
President Obama continues to show exemplary Leadership a person who you can put your trust a person who will not stoop to make excuses to justify deceit and lies. This is what leaders should be not a manipulator, not a liar and not someone whom you cannot trust.
Too many are leading who are not qualified to assume that role. Many so call leaders’ don’ts care less about any one. The role of their leadership is all about them; the benefit that they can obtain the power they have to manipulate and push people around and the selfish pride that they enjoy from the elevation of their sick ego.
For too long too people are elevated to leadership role because of their class, skin color, and economic status or because of who they know. But this is not how it should be leaders should not be selected this way. Too much is at stake leaders should be selected base on their education stamina to endure and someone who is creditable as displayed in their deed and behavior.
Many may accept that a great leader usually appear from out of nowhere and that is why many people tend to believe that great leaders are born not created and President Obama with who he is experience he have and who he has become will make one believe that truly he was a born leader.

She would be the first Hispanic to be chosen as a supreme court justice, if elected. From what we are hearing the republicans are going to have a hard time to defeat her. They may not go after her with the hatchet either out of fear of alienating the Hispanic community which is going to be instrumental in their chances of getting back in the White House. Nevertheless, there are some are going to fight to the death at the thought of another minority crawling into high places.

“You know, it’s tough for me to recall that because that was right after Katrina, that was November after Hurricane Katrina,” Nagin said during an impromptu news conference at Civil District Court. “Everything for me is a blur.”

News of the first-class flight to Jamaica came after an earlier revelation that NetMethods, owned by city technology vendor Mark St. Pierre, also paid for a December 2004 trip to Hawaii taken by Nagin, his wife and his three children.

The Metropolitan Crime Commission filed a formal complaint against Nagin with the state Board of Ethics on Wednesday, seeking an investigation into the trips.

When asked a month ago about the Hawaiian excursion, Nagin said he didn’t know who paid for it. Later, he said he believed the costs were covered by his former chief technology officer, Greg Meffert, but allowed that a private firm might have paid.

In a recent deposition, Meffert said NetMethods financed the Hawaiian trip, which the Meffert and Nagin families took together.

Nagin indicated Wednesday that the steady flow of new information has failed to jog his memory.

“You know what? The more I look at that stuff and read it, the more confused I get,” Nagin said. “And I’m one of the main players in this.

“At first they were saying that the company paid for the trip to Hawaii. Now, supposedly there’s no evidence of that. Now, they’re saying that he paid for a Jamaica trip.” Read More…

In 2004 after the ousted of former President Jean- Bertrand Aristide Haiti erupted in kidnapping, violence and murders. The violence escalated due to the vast amount of guns and ammunition that was at the disposal to the Haitians. This went on for many years but I guess they realized that if they continue with the murders and robbery that life will only get worse and everyone will suffer.

The Haitians did something about their divested situation they decided to do something different. They knew that having all those guns is not helping their situation, because they started to have a decrease in tourist and even there own had stopped visiting due to the increase crime and violence. So they came up with a plan they realized that things have to change so they started to exchange guns for ganja (marijuana) to Jamaicans.

Yes, that is exactly what happens the crime and murders in Jamaica got worse while the crime and violence in Haiti got better. This is a typical bro Anancy story, only that many of these young guys creating havoc in the country not now about Anancy and his trickery or can I say smartness.

The Jamaica Observer Feb. 28 2008 issue article titled Cry of Desperation outline some brutal data regarding Jamaica’s calamity. The period of 2005-2006 USA murder rate was 5.7 per 100,000, Trinidad and Tobago 35.7 per 100,000, Colombia 46 per 100,000, Haiti 11.5 per 100,000 and Jamaica 66.6 per 100,000. Looking at this information made me cringe because we all know things have not got better but a lot worse. The Government’s aware that illegal guns are coming to Jamaica from Haiti in exchange for weed.

Something needs to be done about this situation if the Jamaican Government cannot take control of this situation then they need outside assistance, probably the U.N. The country is gasping for air, don’t wait until strangulation occurrs before we start seeking outside assistance because by then it will be too late.
