Now that the run off for the president of the PNP is over, and Portia Simpson has once again established herself as the leader of the party, a number of analyst are now saying that she should reach out to to her challengers. These are some of the same people who earlier attack her as weak, indecisive, and unintelligent.

Portia Simpson should stop taking advice and directions from people who hate her and stick to those who believe in her. It is still four more years before the next election and she should use this opportunity to get rid of Dr. Phillips and his bunch and put new people in charge who will help her enhance her programs. How could these people be of any help to her when 95% of their time is taken up fighting her? give me a break!

We do not want a Portia Simpson to be wasting valuable time trying to massage party big wigs egos. Portia’s strength is with the people of Jamaica and she should focus on presenting her case to the people of a Jamaica. Sooner or later all these Dr. Phillips detractors will fall in line because they will have no other pace to go.

CONGRATS to Portia Simpson for securing the necesary votes to lead the People’s National Party as president. Last night Portia handily beat out Dr. Peter Phillips challenge for leadership and has now established her self as the person that the people want to lead the party. Hopefully this will put to rest any questions about her leadership and the PNP can get back to the business of running a meaningful oppostion to the ruling government. The party and especially Dr. Phillip supporters should unite behind Portia for the overall good of the party and the country.

This Saturday September 20 will be a big day for the People’s National party when delegates will vote whether they want Portia Simpson or Dr. Peter Phillips to lead the party. No doubt, there will be a lot of hard feelings no matter who is victorious. Followers from both side will be very high on passion. Whoever comes out the victor will have a profound effect on the politics of Jamaica. It is hard to tell the difference in policies between Simpson and Phillips, its more style than substance. Many of Phillips supporters believe that he will be more intellectually inclined to challenge Bruce Golding.Portia supporters believe that she has the understanding, passion and common sense to help the poor. Let’s see what happens on Saturday. Hopefully, peace will prevail, no matter what happens.

Leader of the opposition Portia Simpson will be facing the fight of her political life in a few days. Dr. Peter Phillips is challenging her for the position of leadership in People’s National Party (PNP). Many comrades blame Portia Simpson for the narrow defeat to the Bruce Golding led JLP in the last election over a year ago. One can easily argue that Ms. Simpson made some bad judgment which led the defeat. For one, Ms. Simpson failed to call the election when she enjoyed a more than 75% popularity with the Jamaican electorate; Secondly, she waited too long to call the election when she realized that her popularity was dwindling and the PNP was swamped with corruption charges.

However, the argument that she is not intellectual enough I am not buying into. Her handling of the country is no less effective than that of Bruce Golding over just about the same period of time. Crime has increased, inflation skyrocketed and corruption is still rampant. While it is not customarily that a sitting party leader is challenged, Dr. Phillips has every right to do so. It will be interesting to see whether the people will give Portia another chance at the wheel.

Congratulations to Senator Obama and his team on a job well done. His acceptance speech for presidency to an audience of 85,000 plus shows what can be done if as a leader you put confidence in people. Senator Obama echo to the Nation that the need for change is now, and that it is the people of the United State of America who can make that change. But as a good leader, Senator Obama shows good judgment by selecting and putting together teams that are capable to help fulfill his dream and the dream of a nation. This is a good show for America and Americans, a moment to be proud and hopeful as a nation as we look forward to a historical November election.

Mrs. Portia Simpson- Miller or the authority that may should make a quick decision as to who will be the leader of PNP party so that Jamaicans will not be distracted with their brawl. We as Jamaica have so much wok to do right now we have no time to waste. In other words “no linga”. Now is the time to unite and get ideas and get to work whether you are PNP, JLP or any other “P”, whether you are black white or mixed up in between, whether you are rich or poor, whether you live a foreign or yard. We all need to make haste while the sun shines. We show the world our God given talents we cannot bury it now but instead we have build on it.
