Once you see the picture of the love bird you started to feel the relief of tension. You are then greeted and checked by an Air Jamaica staff who most of the time is very pleasant and very helpful. You are then checked in and scan by security as you make your way toward the gate boarding area with great anticipation as you looked toward yet another fun fill vacation.

Those were the days a lot have changed now. The beginning of my yearly vacation is not the same anymore. The staff and the services are not the same and even worse the flight is not the same. Things got real bad when a couple summers ago when we were returning from Jamaica we got the scare of our lives when the plane dropped without any warning. The passengers screamed as the plane free fall and to make matter even worse we not only played that day over and over in our head but we listened to it over and over due to the fact that my son was videoing what it happen.

Many may say that is not a big deal….and that may be right but when thing like this happen not long after a new company and the Bruce Golding government has pulled away your safety blanket away from you and for this to happen made the world of difference. i didn’t trust Caribbean airline even though I know nothing about their flying record but I knew of Air Jamaica A1 record, therefore I felt comfortable with them from that point of view and also the fact that majority if not all of Air Jamaican crew were my fellow countrymen and women and for that I put my trust in them. Foolish I may be but that was how I f felt.

Things have changed, now I don’t care much which airline I take because the feeling of trust is not there also the feeling that my vacation start on entry to the airport is not there either .Most of my time and focus is spent praying and hoping to get to Jamaica safe.

Cleaning the Beaches

My hat goes off to the people who volunteer and to Diana McCauley chief executive from Jamaica Environment Trust who organized and mobilized to clean the beaches of Port Royal-Palisadoes in observation of International coastal Clean-up Day. It is full time for someone to recognize that what we have in Jamaica is of great value which needs to be protected. Many of us don’t realized and therefore we don’t appreciate what we have. Many people who travel know that we are blessed and therefore they tend to appreciate more of what we have value and its importance.

We have in Jamaica nice mountains, woodland, waterfalls, rivers and beaches that is lacking love and tender care therefore if more people get involve and start loving Jamaica and enjoying what we have then we will learn to appreciate the beauty of our precious Island.
