Chile’s EarthQuake Coverage Misleading
Listening to the various newscasters covering the Chile’s disaster and comparing it to Haiti’s you want to feel like earthquakes are not that bad after all. First we hear them trying to keep the figures of the death toll low, although we would like it to be so. They initially underplay the devastation showing a few bridges and bragging about the structure of the buildings and so on. The problem is earthquakes and hurricanes are respecters of no man. They hit when they want, where they want and who they want.
To make matters worst the very arrogant president declaring that they do not want any international assistance, at least for now. They probably need help with the out of control looting taking place down there. I am sure that the people of Chile see things differently from what the news media is trying to portray. Furthermore Haiti is not a good comparison seeing that the media has already portray Haiti as the poorest country on earth. Cut out the camouflage and the deception and give the people of Chile all the help that they need.
