A call for a public debate between his administration and the opposition is nothing but a distraction created by Prime Minister Bruce Golding to disguise his administration inability to rescue the country from financial and social wilderness.

Mr. Golding’s ability to debate is undeniable. We saw some of his debating skills while he was forcefully seeking the job as prime Minister. There is not a single Jamaican who would argue that point. What we are seeing a shortage of in the present administration is action. Very few campaign promises have been fulfilled. We see rising crime rate and more dangerously, the ruthlessness and callousness as a result of some of these crimes. We see a diminishing GDP and an increasingly staggering unemployment rate.

While Mr. Golding is clearly not the cause of all of these problems he is the captain chosen for the ship, hopefully not the Titanic. With Barrack Obama less than one year in office, the name George Bush is becoming a souvenir. That’s how things are in politics. We know the PNP fell asleep at the wheel after a lengthy 18 year drive, but Mr. Golding you are now the driver. The PNP is the back seat taking a nap.
