I cannot see how the Prime Ministers of Jamaica present and pass allow free reign of the Dons throughout the country. It is about time for the country elected officials to stop the backward practice. If the Dons or community leaders want to lead then they should go forth and do it the correct way. It is up to the people to decide if they want to elect them as their leaders.
One don’t have to hold a doctorate degree or be a lawyer in order to be a leader but at the same time one have to be of good character and have good leadership qualities to be good productive leaders. Although many of these good leadership qualities are not exhibit by most of the current politicians. Some may think that using bruit force and intimidation qualifies one as a leader but that is not necessarily so. One may lead with those qualities but I can guarantee it will be for a short time only.
There are some good leaders out there who have good qualities and good ideas that are waiting for the opportunity to show case their talent but it is so difficult for them to break the tight link chain. In many cases the political arena in Jamaica is only limited to a chosen few and it is pass down from generation to generation not giving a crack for new blood to enter the status as a Politian.
On the other hand the gates are open wide for the young guys to enter but not with the true title as a Politian. Some of whom are smarter than the political figure that they are working for. The young men Mainly dark skin will then do just about anything for their boss hoping that someday they will get the opportunity to be elevated to the a higher level but they will never be elevated to Politian class or level. They can be elevated though to the highest level as a DON in the area leader’s class.
And so the wheel turn and the cycle continues, Don comes and Don goes. Once your task is over and you are no longer need by that Politian.
