I am not the person seeking respect or any such things. In our daily
lives, where we work and where we live, where we worship, we need to
do Gods work. It is how we treat each other. How we deal with our
women and children. How we deal with those who are no longer with us.
We use to sprinkle a little rum around our houses now and then in
remembrance of those who are gone, we no longer do so. Were our
grandparents mad when they did that. Are our fore parents not also
worthy of respect. We also remember that the title of our God is King
of Kings and Lords of Lords. What does that mean? There are other
traditions which we need to deal with respect, how do we deal with the
Hindus, Muslims and others. I am not the problem. We are the problem.
We (I) rob God of his tithes and expect His Blessing. We batter our
women and children and we expect to receive God’s love. We curse our
parents and fore parents, our mothers in laws and fathers in law, and
we expect long life. I am not the problem, we are the problem. We give
bun, like it is going out of style, and everyday we try to trick
God:-”God will understand”. We are the problem, not Basil Fletcher.

The Lessons That I have Learnt
• Pay your tithes. It is easier and better to pay your tithes in cash,
than to pay it in labour. God will take that which is due to him.
Honour your mother and your father. Here one also includes those who
have done their best and are no longer with us. One cannot curse the
food prepared for one at a table, nor does one sit and eat without
honouring the cook. Jamaica may not be perfect, but many suffered and
toiled to bring it to this point. We must respect them and their
efforts. I got a thousand if not more lashes and whippings for gross
disrespect.
• God is LOVE,.
• God is Forgiveness.
• To forgive is to forget.
• God is Mercy.
• God is unending Grace.
• Love your woman. Nowhere is it written that a woman should love her
man, it is written that a man should love his woman, equally as God
loves the Church. I have seen with my eyes what happens to those who
failed to love their women equally as God loves the Church, their fate
is far from being good.
• Your mother in law is your mother, your father in law is your
father, your brother in law is your brother, your sister in law is
your sister. You have left the house of your parents and have joined
another.
• God comes to all people in one name or another. Respect the
traditions of the people.
• Respect your teachers and your leaders. I did not give my pastor the
respect which was due to him. For this I paid a heavy price.
• Be prepared to help when called on. Do not go barging through the
door without first being invited.

These are but a few of the lessons that I have learnt. The journey was
not easy, but God was and is Merciful, he saw my intentions and he
examined my heart. He provided me with good teachers and very able
guides. To study the streets, is to know how to walk, I did not know
how to walk, I crept like an infant and cried as one.

My brothers please read carefully what I have written.

Basil Fletcher

By making Basil Fletcher the problem, the person to deal with, what is
being done is that a “false god” is being created. Basil Fletcher can
hardly bear the cosequences of his own sins, much less that of a
country. Do not make false gods or false prophets. We know what is
required of us, and that we must do.
