When I heard of this drama I could not believe it at first. I thought that my husband was joking around. I had to see it for myself in black and white and even then I just cannot see the rationale behind this nonsense. Why do we need to import patties? I want to know why. You want to tell me that we don’t have enough patties in Jamaica. Come on Jamaicans this is going too far. There can be no excuse or rational for this decision making. Every country is trying desperately to hold on to every dollar they have. Many are trying to find job or create new job to employed people. And to tell me that Jamaica is planning on importing patties to Jamaica is a shame and a disgrace. This is a slap in the face of many Jamaican who would go to Jamaica with the thought of enjoying a good Jamaican patty.

I remember coming thought custom at Fort Lauderdale and the custom officer asked me what I have in my suit case and when I told him he turn to me and asked if I did not bring up any patty. My reply was no because there is patty here in America, he turns to me and say ‘but they just don’t taste the same as those from Jamaica.’ My reply was that’s right. I felt bad because here I am trying to give a positive reason as to why I did not bring any patty from Jamaica and here a non Jamaican white man who took me back to reality. Jamaican patties taste good and there is none like it so why would we want to import them from another country. We need the money for medicine that we don’t have in Jamaica not patty when we have so many student who did home economics in high school and graduate and cannot get a job why not put them to make patties.

I have come to one conclusion and that is someone is trying to destroy Jamaica by any means necessary and it is high time for Jamaicans to wake up and smell the coffee.
