In an effort to put a dent in the ever increasing murder rate and crime in general, Jamaica will establish a worldwide crime information hot-line on January 18, 2009. The number will be 1-800-CORRUPT. This will enable those who have information about a particular crime to call in. One good thing about this number is

that the telephone call will not be answered in Jamaica but off the Island. This means that corrupt cops in Jamaica will have very little chance, if any, of informing their criminal friends of the call. Everyone knows that crime is fueled in Jamaica only because of corrupt cops and corrupt politicians.

Just yesterday the  Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn spoke about the ‘Informer fi dead culture’ which is plaguing the island. Many people who know about crime, even before it is committed, are afraid to come forward because of fear for their lives and their families. People in Jamaica do not even trust the police force. This is why criminals can carry out their acts without fear.

With our murder rate for 2008 almost surpassing the figure of 1,574 for 2007, we have to do something and do it now.

According to JAMLINK the following will take place in January 2009:

  • On the 18 January 2009, he will be launching a new telephone number, 1 800 CORRUPT which will ensure that all information passed from members of the public will be acted upon, while the source of the information will remain totally secure. The telephone calls will be answered in a secure location off the island, and then the information will be passed to his vetted staff. Don’t forget this number is not live until 18.01.09.

  • You may also contact ACP Felice directly at his office at 1-876 926 9596 or by e-mail at: justin.felice@jcf.gov.jm.  He has further assured me that all correspondence will be treated with strictest of confidence and ensured that all contacts would remain anonymous.
