Mosquito infestation In Port more
Why the gutters and drain were not clean in Port more? Whose responsibility it is to clean them and whose interest would it be to have these areas cleaned.
It bothers my mind to hear the mayor of Port more Keith Hinds talk about the issues of mosquito infestation in that area. It is simple open contained water will breed mosquitoes. Therefore drains, gullies and gutters should have been clean during the long drought. I cannot understand how it is that Jamaicans especially the leaders are so complacent. Why is it that we have become reactive instead of proactive?
We have more than one reason to clean the drains and gullies; first we know that most of the time after a long drought once the rain starts it pours heavily. Secondly lack of preparation scared me mostly because we are at the beginning of the hurricane season so why then is the mayor and the responsible party did not have the drains ready for the hurricane season. We are slacking here It makes no sense to be calling on the health ministry at this time when preparation should have be made and the drains should have already been cleaned or it is the responsibility of the health ministry to have the drains and gullies clean.
Now is time to get the people’s business done hurricane and mosquitoes will not linga while we decide when to get the job done.
