Listening to Motty Perkins today on his talk show on Power 106 FM one gets the impression that Motty is only interesting in negative news, since most of his fame comes from promoting divisive politics and negativity. Callers to his talk show who were excited about Jamaica’s accomplishments in the Olympics were slighted and told that not every Jamaican had the opportunity that Usain Bolt and the others had. This is ridiculous. Life is a choice. Even the disadvantage has a choice. Usain could have been the most determined gunman in Jamaica. He chooses to run. To try to undermine the athletes achievements and the glory that the Jamaican people feel about their heroes is reminiscence of the type of ancient political antics that people like Motty Perkins continue to keep alive in Jamaica. We need to replace pessimism with hope. Jamaica is not lacking of doomsayers and negative preachers. Come on Motty is time for you to leave the scene. Your ideals are outdated and useless towards progress.

Gold, Silver and Silver again that is how the Jamaican trio Shelly-Ann Fraser, Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart mash up the 100 meter race and virtually locked out all the other competitors. Shelly Ann Fraser won the gold followed by Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart who were tied for silver. This put Jamaica in a total different category. With the chances of more gold to come, Jamaica will no longer be a ‘little dot’ on the map.

Jamaican Track star Usain Bolt set new Olympic record in the 100 meters final in Beijing. Bolt ran at a lightning speed covering the 100m in 9.69 seconds. Many analysts believe that Bold could have done it in a faster time if he did not slow down to celebrate seconds before he reached the finish line. This is another evidence of the power of the Jamaican athletes throughout history. Bolt is only 21 years old and the best is yet to come.
