Phil’s Hardware Fire
We are saddened to learn about the fire, which destroys Phil’s Hardware in Spanish Town St. Catherine a few days ago. This will render that part of Spanish Town a virtual ghost town. Phil’s Hardware directly employed over 70 workers and is responsible for the livelihood of cab drivers, truck drivers and many others who depended on its existence.
If you shopped at Phil’s’ Hardware you would have seen the hard working, mostly pleasant staff on a daily basis. Recent reports indicated that the fire was as a result of arson. We are hoping this is not part of the extortion racket that has been crippling the country’s businesses in recent times. The police should go all out in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

I have been to Phil’s hardware several time. My last vist was just August when a was looking for a shower curtain rod among other things.Even though they did not have shower rod that I wanted. A young man was very helpful by as he assisted me to locate the one that they have in stock. It is a shame to hear that such a large store is gone just gone like that. I do hope that the owner is compesated and that he is willing to rebuild his business.
