Burning Spear's 'Jah is Real' is the winner of the 2008 Grammy award in the reggae category. He succesfully beat out  Let's Get Physical by Elephant Man, Vibes by Heavy D, Repentance by Lee "Scratch" Perry, Intoxication by Shaggy, Amazing by Sly and Robbie. Congratulations Burning Spear.

Reggae superstar singer Taurus Riley announces that his new single ‘Start Anew’ where he denounces abuse on women was not a ‘dis’ to his artist dad Jimmy Riley. Jimmy Riley was accused of punching his wife Sandra Bramwell-Riley and is now in court. In issong Tarus Riley talks about the man saying that he loves you but beating you when he feels like. Taurus, hower denied that the song has anyhting to do with his father. He made the record about two months before the incident.

THE FILM IS ABOUT A FAMILY IN THE GARRISON, SHE HAS A DAUGHTER AND BOYFRIEND WHO GOT KILLED DURING THE FILM. MACKA DIAMOND AS A MOM FROM THE GARRISON ENDS UP TAKEN REVENGE .THE DIRECTOR FOR THE FILM IS FROM ENGLAND THE IDEA BEHIND IT IS TO HAVE A SET OF FILMS REPRESENTING THE CARRIBEAN .THIS WILL NOT BE MACKA’S FIRST FILM, SHE HAD A ROLL IN THE FAMOUS ROYAL PALM ESTATE AND SHE IS ALSO AND AUTHOR.
THIS IS JUST A GLIMPSE OF WHERE THE JAMAICAN ARTISTS ARE HEADING FOR THE NEW YEAR, THEY ARE TRYING TO GET ON THE INTERNATIONAL SCENE AND REPRESENTING JAMAICA.

On January 3, Supreme Promotion and Laing brought a version of the popular ‘Sting’ concert to Antigua and all account was that it was a master blast. The show is obviously not as big as the Jamaican Sting but less controversial and just as nice. Artist like Egg Nog and Flippa Mafia were in performances among others, but Kartel and Spice mashed up the place. With no Mavado to worry about Kartel gave the audience his best performance. Antigua Sting was a success and may be repeated next year.

The stage is set tonight December 26, 2008 for Sting. Coined “The Greatest One Night Show on Earth” Sting 2008 should be a festive event. There is one thing that is bound to make this Sting a special one; a hopeful clash between Vybz Kartel and Mavado. Both artists have inferred that all beefs will be settled on stage, in a strictly lyrical battle. Here are some recent interviews from both sides of the table. Vybz Kartel Interview:

Jamaican DJ Superstar Beenie Man 17 year old daughter Desha Gaye gave birth to baby girl last Sunday in Florida. Beenie Man, while disappointed because of her age, is very happy that both baby and mother are doing well. He boasts that he will be there for them 150% of the time. It is still unknown who the father of the baby is. Hopefully it is someone her age group.

Recently Danchall DJ Bounty Killer has been promoting a new way forward. He has been asking his fellow DJ's to cool down on the gun lyrics and the bad man business and even encouraging Jamaicans to 'Smile" more. Bounty is the leader  of the 'Alliance" crew which comprises of Mavado, Wayne Marhall, Aidonia, Bling Dawg and others. Bounty knows a few things about gun lyrics, clashes and bad man lyrics on a whole. Bounty is now even encouraging his fans to listen more to conscious lyrics.
