By Andrew M. Manis

For much of the last forty years, ever since America “fixed” its race problem in the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts, we white people have been impatient with African Americans who continued to blame race for their difficulties. Often we have heard whites ask, “When are African Americans

finally going to get over it? Now I want to ask: “When are we White Americans going to get over our ridiculous obsession with skin color?

Recent reports that “Election Spurs Hundreds’ of Race Threats, Crimes” should frighten and infuriate every one of us. Having grown up in “Bombingham,” Alabama in the 1960s, I remember overhearing an avalanche of comments about what many white classmates and their parents wanted to do to John and Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King. Eventually, as you may recall, in all three cases, someone decided to do more than “talk the talk.”

Since our recent presidential election, to our eternal shame we are once again hearing the same reprehensible talk I remember from my boyhood.
We white people have controlled political life in the disunited colonies and United States for some 400 years on this continent. Conservative whites have been in power 28 of the last 40 years. Even during the eight Clinton years, conservatives in Congress blocked most of his agenda and pulled him to the right. Yet never in that period did I read any headlines suggesting that anyone was calling for the assassinations of presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan, or either of the Bushes. Criticize them, yes. Call for their impeachment, perhaps. But there were no bounties on their heads. And even when someone did try to kill Ronald Reagan, the perpetrator was non-political mental case who wanted merely to impress Jody Foster.
But elect a liberal who happens to be Black and we’re back in the sixties again. At this point in our history, we should be proud that we’ve proven what conservatives are always saying — that in America anything is possible, EVEN electing a black man as president. But instead we now hear that school children from Maine to California are talking about wanting to “assassinate Obama.”
Fighting the urge to throw up, I can only ask, “How long?” How long before we white people realize we can’t make our nation, much less the whole world, look like us? How long until we white people can – once and for all – get over this hell-conceived preoccupation with skin color? How long until we white people get over the demonic conviction that white skin makes us superior? How long before we white people get over our bitter resentments about being demoted to the status of equality with non-whites?
How long before we get over our expectations that we should be at the head of the line merely because of our white skin? How long until we white people end our silence and call out our peers when they share the latest racist jokes in the privacy of our white-only conversations?
I believe in free speech, but how long until we white people start making racist loudmouths as socially uncomfortable as we do flag burners? How long until we white people will stop insisting that blacks exercise personal responsibility, build strong families, educate themselves enough to edit the Harvard Law Review, and work hard enough to become President of the United States, only to threaten to assassinate them when they do?
How long before we starting “living out the true meaning” of our creeds, both civil and religious, that all men and women are created equal and that “red and yellow, black and white” all are precious in God’s sight?
Until this past November 4, I didn’t believe this country would ever elect an African American to the presidency. I still don’t believe I’ll live long enough to see us white people get over our racism problem. But here’s my three-point plan: First, everyday that Barack Obama lives in the White House that Black Slaves Built, I’m going to pray that God (and the Secret Service) will protect him and his family from us white people.
Second, I’m going to report to the FBI any white person I overhear saying, in seriousness or in jest, anything of a threatening nature about President Obama. Third, I’m going to pray to live long enough to see America surprise the world once again, when white people can “in spirit and in truth” sing of our damnable color prejudice, “We HAVE overcome.”
**************************************
It takes a Village to protect our President!!!

Poor Barrack Obama, what else can he do? Here is a guy with the majority of members in the house and senate that could have passed a bill without the republican blessings. Yet he chose to cozy up to the republicans, kissing their asses and now they are throwing water in his face. What Barrack may not know is that

these guys have their own agendas. They are already pissed off that a black man is in the white house much more to help him to succeed. Never mind the millions of Americans who will lose their jobs, homes and sanity during this crisis. Thanks to their chief race bater Rush Limbaugh to be an outspoken person. He just tell it like it is, don't beat around the bush. He does not want Obama to succeed. The followers are afraid to say it but they let their votes speak out for them.

President Obama came out of la-la land last night and went out to give a speech to the Amercan people letting them know what is going on. Imagine these are the same republicans who gave George Bush 700 billion dollars to dish out to their friends in the banking industry, now they are all rebelling when average American will get chance to benefit from the Obama stimulus package. These are the same guys who gave Bush a blank check to go to war and rack up a trillion dollar deficit but now all of sudden they are 'conservatives' again. The American people will not go down with them again, they will stand up this time.

Barrack Obama would be stupid to allow these guys to railroad him. He is smart enough to kwon what they are about. These are the same guys who are quick to point out people who are anti-American but yet they would rather to see the country go down than a black man to succeed.

Now, not only politicians are corrupt and ginnals, but it is so sad to see the persons who we once thought had moral values are now caught in the web. When church men are drawn into government, we expect them to be bi-partisan and bring some freshness and sanity to the table, Instead

what do we have today? Ministers who are willing to sell their souls for positions and to say what politicians want them to say, or what they think is politicallly correct. My heart bleeds to see the low standard that the church has lowered itself into and has bring the name of God into disrepute. There is one famous preacher who has recently being given a big post and some of his utterances these days leave such a bad taste in my mouth. What about forgiveness? They behave as if they are sinless, but the bible says he that is without sin cast the first stone. Some of them are more JLP and PNP than the ordinary man on the street. All they now need is a microphone and a car to go on the street and c ampaign for their party. I say to them all “Shame on you”. God will not share His glory and some of you have taken on the role to become mini gods , pretending that you know what will heal the ills of this country, minus GOD!!!!!! HE alone is the ultimate and all your plans will go to naught if you do not go back to basic and ask Him for guidance. Have you wondered why persons are no longer interested in listening to you or seeking the right way but continues to create murder and mayhem? Lord, help Jamaica land we love. Save us from ourselves because we are our own worse enemy!!!!

The problems that exist in Jamaica are mainly due to the corruption that surrounds the political system. We need more transparency in the Jamaican political system to help eradicate

some of the corruption that involve.

For example when you have people who contribute million of dollars to a political party they will, not probably, they will get a return on the millions that they contributed to that party and their contribution multiplied by millions more. They are given business opportunity no matter who loses at the end of the day the Jamaica people or the country itself. That how the system is set up.

Then you have the youths mostly from the ghetto some of whom become Shottas, because that is what they have to offer. That is their contribution to their party because they don’t have millions. What they do is intimidate and murder many for the sake of their political affiliation. Many of them pay the ultimate sacrifice their life. If they survive after their government win some are rewarded with big contracts e.g. to fix roads even though they have no knowledge how to do the job. Which creates another problem tax payer money spend on roads that are poorly done. Here again hard working Jamaican and the country loses.

All these political corruption have to stop in order to reduce the crime and violence in Jamaica and to stop the manipulation and the abuse of the few big men (very rich men) and the illegal gunmen. Most Jamaica knows what is happening and why so many are suffering. Many Jamaicans also know what can be done to resolve the problems that exist and they do nothing. If these corruptions are stopped Jamaica will be a better place but who have the power to stop it won’t. And so the wheel keeps on turning while they turn their heads and look the other way.

Being a leader is similar to running a house hold with children. Having children in a house hold can be rewarding as will as distracting. Being a parent require a lot of skills that are not taught in schools but they are naturally known to most parent. Parent have to show love,

fairness and discipline to their children. Parent learn the behavior and needs of each child and to focus on that child specific needs. One child may be smarter than the other, one may be better in spots ,and one may be a trouble maker.

This is the situation that the American government and the leaders of the world is face with as the situation with the Muslims and the Jews in the Middle East worsen. Most leaders are being unfair to the Jews by refraining to tell the truth. As a parent if your child does something wrong or if your child continues to bully another it is in the best interest of the child if the parent is truthful to him. Why then most leaders including America is afraid to say it publicly that what Israelis are doing is unfortunate and unfair not only to the people of Gaza but to the entire world.

Israel is creating a distraction which will delay focus on the main problem that is affecting America and the world. The President elect should stay focus on the greatest economic problems that America is facing since the depression. Too many American are Homeless, Jobless and helpless. Mr. Obama should stay steadfast with his agenda. This conflict has been going on for so long therefore other people should not suffer due to the problems created by some political, egotistical, person. Only a mad person will continue down the same path and expect a different outcome.

President elect don’t let them drag you in their messy mud fight, let them get this over with once and for all and whoever survive, survive ; enough is enough, every one is fed up with this bull. We are sick and tired of this mess. We have too many important issues to focus on. This is not a natural disaster for which we have no control over. This is man made, if they made the decision to start the fight, they can also make the decision to stop and not to created further pain and death for the poor and helpless people who have no say in the decision.

The home of sitting Member of Parliament (MP) Joseph Hibbert was searched by the Jamaican Fraud Squad and the British Serious Fraud Office (SFO). Everyone is tight-lipped about the real reason for the search but speculation is that it may involved a 15 year old case involving a British company that used to operate in Jamaica. Mr. Hibbert and his attorneys are denying any semblance of wrongdoing. JV will bring you more when the story unfolds.

Obama again have made history. There was a big talk about the man who gave birth couple months ago but I didn’t hear much talk about Obama father who must have given birth to him. The argument and frivolous lawsuits that are filed questioning if Obama is an American citizen

or a citizen of Kenya because his father is a Kenya Citizen, or that he is British because at the time of his birth Kenya was still govern by British. At no time there was an inclusion of the woman who gave birth to him. What if she was mention then the stupidity of such talk would not have left the State where the accusation was made.

It is quite possible that Obama could obtain citizen from British and Kenya due to family ties but I am sure that he could also obtain citizenship from many other countries because he is a great guy and a good person who have so much to offer. Many disgruntled American who still cannot accept the fact that America President is a Black man. They need to understand that the people have spoken and that they have made their selection. They have chosen someone that will do well for the country. Why cant they see that they would rather that the county to be destroyed than to have a qualified, educated law abiding black man running the United States. Come on put aside you prejudice and give him a chance.

I hope that the Jamaica Prime Minister, the Leader of Opposition and Members of Parliament are attending the free classes that the President elect Barrack Obama is teaching. Jamaicans like many Americans Politicians and Politicians around the world are marveling

at the way this man is dealings with problems. He doesn’t go behind the bushes and hide, he addresses problems face on. He has meetings to get ideas and views of the people in order to attack the economic crisis.

He wants to get everyone that are working for the people of America involve Republicans, Democratic or Independent. He promises to help everyone regardless of party affiliation. That is leadership that is someone who love his country, that is someone who care about people, that is some one who is willing to help the less fortunate, that is some one who is not looking out for himself but for the people who elected him to serve them. He knows what it is to serve people, which is what he has been doing throughout his adult life. He knows that in order for it to be about him, first it has to be about the people. No wonder he is so successful in what he does he always put people need before his ego.

Can you imagine this man has not even sworn in as yet but the way he is handling himself you know that if he continue the same way he will be one of the greatest leader this world has ever seen. This man knows that he cannot do this by himself, and he said so many times and so he is getting all his ducks in a row, selecting his people, having meetings telling them about some of plans and getting ideas.

From his action you can tell that this man did not run for the Presidency of the United States of America for fame and fortune. He runs to help the poor and disadvantaged. No one should be surprised because this is what he always does as a community organizer. He always has the poor and disadvantage on his mind and that was always his mission. But look at him now the President elect of America who would have fathom that possibility. The president who would get the most votes in the history of America and he so happen to be the first black President of America.

Ride on my brother ride on enjoy your blessing as you work further to make life better for many people in America and around the world.
