The latest fad in Jamaica is skin bleaching. Skin bleaching is the process of using various chemicals on a black person’s skin to make it appear brown or even white? While this practice is prevalent among women, a few men have gotten into the act also. Skin bleaching is encouraged mainly by the perceived notion of racism and classism. It is widely believed that if your skin is white or brown you get ahead better in life. The women will get a man quicker or even a job. This notion has been aroundthe Jamaican society for years.
